I am extra proud to be an American today! Osama Bin Laden is dead thanks to the hard work and efforts of so many people! I am thankful for CIA members and military leaders that had the intelligence they needed to track him down. I am extremely grateful for the special group of people that went into the compound and carried out plan of attack so well! No loss of American lives! What an amazing thing! I am grateful for former President George Bush! Lots of people hated him. So many people said we should pull out of the Middle East. But he would not give up. He continued to fight for justice for everyone who lost a loved one on September 11th and also for the safety of all of us here in this country! I think he deserves just as much credit for this day and President Obama does!

I created this blog because I felt like there was no other way to truly express myself fully. Not because I wanted people to read it, but because of the joy I felt getting the way I felt out of me and somewhere else. I was having a really rough time when I created it, sometimes I forget that when I blog about advertising and media... those things are a big part of me, but there's more to me as well

Just about this time of year I get a craving for Americana: Red, white and blue, sparklers and lemonade. Strawberry pies and front porch swingin'. Long Summer evenings while the smell of newly-mown grass lingers and the barn swallows sing goodnight to the bugs they left alive (for now).

I find myself buying things from multiple, smaller, locally-owned sources nowadays, bucking a trend that began when I was small: that of the one-stop shop.
Yes, it's easier and quicker, but I don't know that I will go quietly into the night of retail giants, especially when I realize the price might be my town's identity.

I will never understand the how or why of my relationships. I need to know why and how things can be said and done in the sincerest and best way for so long, and in an instant be taken back and called feigned or non-existent. I have never put on about who I am or what my feelings are, so I want to know why. Maybe there will never be a someone that understands enough to explain that to me.

Well, I have not met with their bosses before, but I have worked with a boss who asked me to work over the weekend specifically, and I never thought twice when I resign from that company.

I have also worked with a boss who gives me a lot of tasks, but never scolded me when I can't deliver. Under such condition, I just work as my normal productivity, so that I don't get so burned out that I will eventually end up resigning! I think me resigning is the last thing that the boss would have wanted!

It might be a tough thing for me just because I know or am acquainted with so many small business owners and think about their livelihood and well-being. I want them to stay here and thrive here and so I will buy my canned tuna from local processors rather than off the shelf at Fred's or Safeway. My artisan bread will not come from the shelves of those stores either, instead from the fabulous Blue Scorcher.

Think before you buy
Read labels, ask questions and modify your spending. Seem tough?
No tougher than being "green" is it to buy locally and buy domestically-made and owned items.
Some things may seem impossible, but there are options for just about everything we need or want in this world.
I really don't want to see some of my favorite locally-owned and operated businesses go away and so I take a bit of extra time to patronize them. Think it takes extra fuel to do so?

The reason why I think we should not forward those false short messages, or quote news that contain half truths, is that it will bring out the terrorists in #3, which will really cause a riot and bring out the terrorists in #4, which is what I perceived as the cause of May 13. It took a very very small group of people from #1, and if we manage to prevent it from snow balling it and bringing out the terrorists of #2, #3, and #4, then the problem will be very well contained.
